Technical Information BOB Rust Protection Primer

presto BOB Rust Protection Primer is lead- and chromate-free, actively pigmented and quick-drying anti-rust primer on the basis of a combination binder.

The ideal primer for iron, steel, zinc and non-iron metals (aluminium) as well as for priming surfaces, which were pre-treated with the presto BOB Rust Sealing.

Physical and chemical data

  • Basis: Combination primer
  • Colour: grey, matt
  • Smell: solvent
  • Temperature resistance: up to 120°C
  • Working temperature:
    +5°C - +30°C, best results at room temperature
  • Drying time (at 20°C, 50% relative air humidity):
    presto BOB Rust Sealing can be coated with presto BOB Rust Protection Primer earliest after 8 hours, latest after 24 hours drying time.
    After approx. 2 hours the presto BOB Rust Protection Primer can be coated with any customary lacquer system.
    The drying time depends on surrounding temperature, air humidity and thickness of the applied coat.
  • Efficiency:
    Depending on consistence and color of the ground:
    100 ml are sufficient for approx. 1.0 m²
    250 ml are sufficient for approx. 2.5 m²
    750 ml are sufficient for approx. 7.5 m²
  • Storage stability:
    36 months if appropriate storage provided (=10°-25°C, relative air humidity of max. 60%)
  • Size: tin cans with 100 ml, 250 ml and 750 ml contents

Environment and labelling

Environmentally sound: European Aerosols is committed to apply formulations without restricted or critical ingredients and to achieve best possible performance. The caps and packagings are made of recyclable material.

Disposal: Only the completely emptied cans should be put into the recycling skip or appropriate container for reclaimable refuse. Cans which are not empty should be disposed off as "special refuse".

Marking/Labelling: All products made by  European Aerosols comply with the actual labelling regulations according to Preparation Guideline 1999/45/EG. All aerosols correspond to TRGS 200  and TRG 300 as well as to aerosol guideline 75/324/EWG in the actually valid version.

Application

  • Stirr well before application.
  • Untreated steel surfaces should be cleaned and degreased, then brush on presto BOB Rust Protection Primer, at best in 2 coats.
  • In case the surface had been treated with presto BOB Rust Sealing before, it can be coated with presto BOB Rust Protection Primer earliest after 8 hours, but latest after 24 hours drying time.
  • After approx. 2 hours drying time it is possible to finish coating with most of the customary lacquers.
  • Clean tools immediately with an nitro or universal thinner.
